VOTING: ELECTION RESULTS

WHO WON THE ELECTION?

Shortly after the polls close preliminary election results may be posted online:

• on Smart Voter
• on the Web site of your County Elections Official
• on the Secretary of State's Web site
• on the website of your local newspaper.

Final, certified, election results are not available until all ballots (including absentee and provisional ballots) have been counted and there have been recounts if necessary.

You may observe the processing and counting of ballots at the office of the County Elections Official

WHO WON PAST ELECTIONS?

• 1997 to most current election info/results (usually includes local elections) --Smart Voter
• 1996 to most current primary and general statewide election results --Secretary of State
• County Election Officials' websites
• California Elections Data Archive (CEDA) maintains local election data from 1995-2003 that summarizes candidate and ballot measure results for county, city, community college and school district elections throughout California.
